POPAT for the very young is presently being trialled in playgroups. It is targetted at very young children who are unable to understand symbols, even pictorial symbols which POPAT uses in its first stages. It will ensure that children can understand and use symbols so that they will be ready for the Standard POPAT, or any other early literacy programme, when they enter Infant School. This POPAT precursor also helps develop integrated attention control which is synonymous with "school-readiness".
