WHOLE SCHOOL/SCHOOL CLUSTER TRAINING

Outline

The training of whole schools or clusters of small schools is believed to be the most effective system for schools who intend to deliver POPAT as the phonics element or word level section of their literacy curriculum. Effective teaching and continuity of learning is best achieved if all staff examine and understand the phonological skills, processes and procedures taught throughout each stage.

The training is suitable for all staff teaching and supporting children in mainstream schools. It is targeted specifically at Key Stage 1 and SEN Support at Key Stage 2.

A more detailed description of the content of each part of the POPAT programme is outlined in ‘Training for Individuals’.
